Micron coordinates cleaning around active construction and deployment milestones. While the trades continue working, our crews remove construction dust, manage airborne particles with approved equipment, and progressively prepare the data hall for rack installation, commissioning, inspection, and operational handoff.

Site readiness

When can racks go into the room?

It is the only question a hall under construction is really asking, and it is the one this company exists to answer. Nobody buys cleaning for its own sake. You buy it because a dirty room cannot take racks, and because the clean sits between you and your date. That is why our work is scheduled around your milestones rather than around ours. Below are the three things that let us answer the question honestly. You can check all three.

1. The standard your room gets measured against

A finished hall is measured against ISO 14644-1 Class 8. That is 3,520,000 particles ≥ 0.5 µm per cubic meter at most, 832,000 ≥ 1 µm, and 29,300 ≥ 5 µm.

The standard classifies a room, by airborne particle count, in a stated occupancy state. Knowing exactly what it covers is the difference between verifying a room and asserting one.

2. We remove the dust, we do not move it

Most data hall cleaning pushes dust from one surface to another and puts some of it back in the air. HEPA-filtered equipment and data-center-safe methods take construction dust and debris out of the room quickly, without putting sensitive equipment at risk. Here is what that means, line by line.

Floors are never swept. Our HEPA equipment is rated 99.97% at 0.3 µm, so what the vacuum picks up does not come straight back out of the exhaust. Cleaner goes on the cloth, never sprayed above equipment. Work runs top-down. Cloths are flipped or replaced every three to six feet, so dust that has been captured stays captured.

3. We clean while your trades are still working

Through fit-out we put cleaning technicians on site with your installers, working behind them as they go. Corridors are vacuumed hourly while racks roll in.

During rough-in we lift and clean five percent of the tile field a night, so the plenum gets done without stopping the trades above it. The pre-fit-out deep clean starts 24 to 48 hours before the first racks roll in. Work that runs alongside the trades is not work sitting on your critical path, and dust we stop in phase one is dust nobody waits on in phase five.

Construction and fit-out

Removing dust and cleaning the air while the trades are still working

In a data hall, dust is an air problem before it is a surface problem. During construction the airborne half is what stands between a finished room and a room you can put racks in. The program runs in five phases, and the air controls run through all five.

The five phases, and where you join

  1. Base build, shell and tenant improvement

    From building handover to tray, busway, raised floor grid and fan-wall plenum complete. Mostly prevention. The daily rough clean starts on the first shift and runs through every later phase.

  2. Infrastructure rough-in and cable pull

    Low-voltage racks going up, before the network racks arrive. We lift and clean five percent of the tile field a night, plus weekly overhead and containment work. The plenum gets cleaned without stopping the trades above it.

  3. Pre-fit-out deep clean

    Trays and busway closed, heavy lifts done. Starts 24 to 48 hours before the first racks roll in.

  4. Rack and network fit-out

    Rack arrival to substantial completion. This is where a clean hall stops being clean, so our crew works alongside your installers rather than after them.

  5. Post-construction final clean

    All racks in, cable dressing done, no overhead work left. Ends with particle samples against the ISO 14644-1 Class 8 limits. You get the readings and the conditions they were taken under, and you judge the room.

The air controls that run through all five

Air handling
CRAC, CRAH and fan-wall units are wrapped and idled until the first deep clean is done. Then they are unwrapped and run for a two-hour purge, with differential pressure watched across the filters.
Filtration
Temporary MERV-11 filters replaced with new MERV-13 units before final testing begins.
Air scrubbers
Standard on new-construction work, and run for 24 hours before the final samples are taken.
The plenum
Non-critical perforated tiles are sealed for the duration, and we work with your operator to swap perforated tiles for solid ones. The under-floor should not be fed from a room that is still a building site.
Entry hygiene
Tack mats at every hall entry and exit. Automatic shoe-cover dispensers, with booties changed on the way in. All of it checked and refilled regularly. Corridors are cleaned as often as the hall.
Method

Verification
A handheld particle check every 5,000 sq ft at the pre-fit-out deep clean. At handover, a minimum of three samples spaced evenly across the hall.

Scope

What we clean

Every scope below has its own written procedure, its own acceptance criteria and its own quoted work window. On a construction program they are sequenced into the phases above. On an operating hall you buy them one at a time. Pick the one you are specifying.

Method

How the work is controlled

General janitorial practice moves dust around a room. Inside a data hall that is the failure mode, not the inconvenience. Four controls run across every scope we quote.

Filtration

HEPA vacuums rated 99.97% at 0.3 µm, with soft-brush attachments around cable and equipment. Floors are never swept. Sweeping puts settled dust straight back into the air.

ESD-safe chemistry

Micron uses approved, low-residue cleaning products and low-lint materials selected for each surface and environment. All products and methods are evaluated for compatibility with sensitive equipment, specialty finishes, static-control requirements, and manufacturer or site guidelines.

Top-down sequence

Work starts at the highest point we can safely reach and moves down. Dust released above a cleaned surface gets captured on the way through instead of landing on finished work. Cloths are flipped or replaced every three to six feet.

Verification

Every section is checked with an LED flashlight held at a shallow angle. Under hall lighting that is the only reliable way to see dust left on a dark surface. A supervisor checks the work and signs it off before the crew leaves.

If your site bans photography, our records are checklists and sign-off sheets. We take photos only where you allow them.

Cleaning defects carry a 30-day workmanship warranty from the service date.

Send us the scope and the date

Send us six things: hall count, surfaces in scope, what phase the building is in, your access constraints, your change window, and the date you need racks in the room. That is enough to price against. It is also enough to tell you straight whether the date is reachable. If you need something we do not do, we will say so in writing instead of pricing around it.
